The oral microbiome: The good and bad bacteria in your mouth

ALTERATION OF THE ORAL MICROBIAL ECOSYSTEM

The mouth is home to the second most diverse microbial community in the body (after the gut), with more than 700 species of bacteria. When the fragile balance of the oral ecosystem is broken, dysbiosis occurs. This allows bacteria to promote disease, such as cavities, gingivitis, and periodontitis, which impact overall health.

RECOMMENDED MEASURES TO REDUCE SYMBIOTIC PROCESSES

Oral hygiene (maintaining control of the microbiota).
Healthy diet.
Maintain an adequate BMI.
Avoid indiscriminate and unjustified use of antibiotics, analgesics, antidepressants, etc.
Restrict as much as possible the use of cosmetics and hygiene products of proven toxicity.
